About Heirloom & Bound

Why I Started Heirloom & Bound

Growing up, my favorite thing was hearing stories about the people in my family. I heard about my great-great-grandmother starting over in a new country, or my great-grandfather's patriotic efforts in the Cold War years. I didn’t realize it at the time, but those stories shaped who I became and how I thought about my family.

When my son, Luke, was born, I started thinking about those stories again. I wanted him to know them too! And I realized our own little family was already beginning to write some of its own: how my husband and I met at a Valentine’s Day party in Dallas, the day Luke joined our family, all the small moments that don’t feel remarkable while you’re living them but end up being exactly what your grandchildren ask to hear about someday.

I didn’t want to rely on memory to pass those stories down. I looked for a personalized children’s book that told our actual story, not just a character with Luke’s name stuck on it. I couldn’t find one! So I decided to make it myself, and that is how Heirloom & Bound started.

How It Works

Every book begins with your story. You answer a guided questionnaire about your memories, your family, and the moments you want to preserve. From there, our team writes it, illustrates it, and designs it into a book. Before it’s ever printed, you’ll review it and ask for edits until it feels exactly right.

My Hope

No two books are ever the same, because no two families are. My hope is that your book becomes part of your family’s traditions. Maybe it is read at bedtime, pulled off the shelf every birthday, or asked for at every family gathering. That’s what stories have always done: they connect us to the people who came before us.
