What is Heirloom & Bound?
Heirloom & Bound turns your family’s memories into a beautifully illustrated, professionally designed keepsake book. You answer a short guided questionnaire about the moments, names, and details that matter, and our team writes the story, illustrates it, and binds it into a book your family will keep.
How does it work?
Choose the kind of story you want to tell and share the details through our guided questionnaire. Our in-house narrative technology writes the manuscript from your answers, followed by a review by our team. You’ll have one chance to review and edit the text and character details before we move into full illustration. We use an AI-assisted rendering process that ensures high quality, including continuity of illustration style and character appearance throughout your book. Once your book is fully illustrated and designed, you’ll see a preview of all the pages for a final look before it goes to print.
Do I need to write the book?
Not at all! You just answer our guided questions the way you’d tell the story out loud: the details, the feeling, the moments that matter to you. We take it from there and write the manuscript for you.
What kinds of stories can I turn into a book?
There are four collections to choose from right now:
- A Life Story — a life well-lived, told from the beginning
- A Love Story — how two people found each other
- A New Arrival — the story of the day a child joined your family
- A Family Adventure — the trip, the challenge, the memory that brought you closer
How much does it cost?
$58 per book — full-color illustration and professional book design are included, along with two chances to review your book before it’s printed. Free shipping included, with expedited options available at checkout.
Will I see my book before it’s printed?
Yes. You’ll review your book at two points. First, once your story is submitted, you’ll have one chance to edit the text and character details before we move into full illustration. Then, before your book goes to print, you’ll see the complete illustrated book for a final look. If anything about the illustrations needs attention at that point, email us at hello@heirloomandbound.com and we’ll work with you to get it right.
How are the illustrations made?
Every book is thoughtfully illustrated using an AI-assisted rendering process, then reviewed by our team before it reaches you. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we use AI.
How long does it take?
Timelines can vary as you have a chance to edit and review each step of the way. Once you approve your book, we send the book to be printed and delivered. Most books take 4-6 weeks for the entire process with standard shipping. We’ll keep you updated at each step, from your submission through the day your book ships.
Is my story kept private?
Yes. Your story is used only to create your book. We never sell your information to third parties, and your information is never used to train AI models. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.
What age is this for?
These are read-aloud picture books, best enjoyed shared between ages 3–10, though grown-ups treasure them just as much as kids do!
Is this a good gift?
One of the most meaningful gifts there is. You don’t have to be the one whose story it is — share the details yourself for a parent, a partner, or a friend, and we’ll turn it into a book that’s just for them.
